USM Lady Eagles Soar Commanding: The University of Southern Mississippi’s Lady Eagles showcased an impressive performance, securing a decisive 91-63 victory over the University of North Alabama.

In this road test of the 2023-24 season, six Lady Eagles achieved double-digit scores, marking a significant milestone as USM surpassed the 90-point mark for the first time since 2017.

The game’s momentum favored the Lady Eagles from the start, leading 23-12 after the first quarter at Flowers Hall. By halftime, they had built a substantial 20-point lead, going into the break with a score of 41-21.

Dominique Dawes led the scoring for USM with an impressive 18 points. Mahoganie Williams contributed 14 points, seven rebounds, and two blocked shots. Nyla Jean achieved a double-double, recording 13 points and 10 rebounds, along with two steals. Brikayla Gray added 12 points and six rebounds, while Noelani Cornfield and Melyia Grayson each contributed 11 points.

On the opposing side, North Alabama (1-3) saw Alexis Callins leading with a game-high 19 points.

The Lady Eagles dominated the boards, outrebounding North Alabama by a significant margin, securing 48 rebounds to their opponents’ 27.

Looking ahead, USM is set to welcome Valparaiso University to Reed Green Coliseum at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
