About Della Christine Watson
Della Christine Watson serves as a teacher at Paducah ISD in Paducah, Texas, bringing over 17 years of valuable experience to her role. Her responsibilities include teaching band to grades 6-12, English to grades 6-8, and music to grades K-5. Watson is also a specialist in teaching students with dyslexia, holding the position of Dyslexia Specialist. In addition, she serves as the 504, Dyslexia, and Title III District Coordinator, demonstrating her multifaceted expertise. Watson is also involved as a class and UIL sponsor.
Before her current position, Watson held the position of English department head at Petrolia CISD. She has served as an English/ESL teacher at San Felipe Del Rio CISD and worked as a music teacher at Highland Elementary School at Tulia ISD. Prior to that, she was the choir director/assistant band director and long-term substitute at Tulia Junior High/Tulia High School at Tulia ISD.
Watson’s dedication and excellence have earned her several accolades, including the Outstanding Teaching of the Humanities Award, Texas, in 2021. She has also been honored with the Petrolia Most Helpful Teacher Award (chosen by students) and the Petrolia Pirate Teacher of the Month (nominated by students). Watson is a proud member of the Golden Key Society and the Association of Texas Professional Educators.
Born on October 7, 1968, in Alabama, Della earned her B.M. from West Texas State University in 1990 and her M.E. from West Texas A&M University in 1994. Currently, she is enrolled in the doctoral program at West Texas A&M University, pursuing her doctorate in Educational Leadership.
Outside of her professional commitments, Della enjoys playing musical instruments and engaging in counted cross-stitch.
