Alabama Honors Cindy Morris: Local Hero Receives Prestigious Food Service Award

Alabama Honors Cindy Morris: Cindy Morris, the food service director at Morning Pointe of Russell, was honored with the 2023 Exceeding Expectations Award in Food Service in Chattanooga by Morning Pointe Senior Living.

This recognition was part of Morning Pointe Senior Living’s annual conference on Dec. 6, where outstanding associates are acknowledged for their leadership and excellence in providing quality senior care. The company annually celebrates top-performing team members across its 38 communities in Alabama, Georgia, Indiana, Kentucky, and Tennessee.

Since joining Morning Pointe of Russell Senior Living in June 2021, Morris has been instrumental in elevating the quality and freshness of the community’s food. In addition to excelling in her daily duties, she initiated a monthly Resident Food Council Meeting to gather feedback from residents and introduced a popular Resident Choice meal each month. Notably, Morris consistently achieves a perfect score of 100 on inspections conducted by the Greenup County Health Department.

Tammy Muffley, the executive director at Morning Pointe of Russell, commended Morris, saying, “Cindy mingles in the dining room each day during mealtime to ask the residents how they liked their meal or learn from comments on food items that they don’t care for. She truly wants them to love the food here.”

Expressing her gratitude, Morris stated, “I love the residents — I feel like all of them are like my grandparents. I was honored to win this award, but I couldn’t have done it without my coworkers. We work together as a team, and when the residents are happy, we’re happy.”
