Zion Williamson: The Pelicans’ Zion Williamson and his parents are being sued for unpaid loan. A California tech company, Ankr PBC filled a loan case. From September 2021, Williamson and family must repay $1.8 million of a $2 million loan.

Ankr PBC wanted to do business with Williamson, the Pelicans All-Star power forward, as a potential spokesperson, not just for profit. But things got confusing when Williamson’s dad, Lee Anderson, asked for $135,000 up front before they could talk about a possible business deal.

The player said Ankr believed Anderson could bargain for Williamson. The company assisted Williamson with neighborhood events and connected him with a personal trainer and cook.

Last April, Ankr and Anderson signed a “forbearance agreement” to get $500,000 by April 25 and the rest by July 6. $500,000 was paid on time, but $300,000 was utilized for interest, leaving $1.8 million
unpaid.
