WalkForVets org Cross-Country Mission: WalkForVets.org is on a mission to raise awareness about post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) through a cross-country walk. The walk, spanning over 4,000 miles from Key West, Florida, to Forks, Washington, is dedicated to the message “Don’t let PTSD back you into a corner.”
Founder John Ring emphasizes that the walk is not only about veterans but also focuses on first responders and civilians dealing with PTSD. The veterans participating in the walk are carrying a U.S. flag from Key West to California, where they plan to present it to the son of a veteran who lost his battle with PTSD earlier this year.
The son’s father expressed a last wish for his message to be shared to help other veterans facing similar challenges. The flag, representing this message, will be delivered to his son in San Diego.
As the journey continues, Ring encounters people willing to support and join the cause. The walk aims to motivate and inspire others to address PTSD and provide assistance to those in need. On Tuesday, the walkers are traveling from Malbis to Theodore, and on Wednesday, they plan to continue from Theodore to Pascagoula, Mississippi.
