Tragic Shooting at North Lawndale: Chicago police say a gunshot at a North Lawndale gathering early Sunday morning killed one lady and injured eight. It sucked. Black Jeeps arrived at meetings before 1 a.m. Jeep gunmen fired. Police say the tragedy devastated the 1500 block of South Keeler Avenue.
CBS2-Chicago reported distressing images of deflated balloons and other party preparations, suggesting the gathering was a birthday party. The cops left 30 clues at the crime scene.
Mount Sinai Hospital killed a 21-year-old woman shot in the face. Police haven’t identified her. A 28-year-old lady who was shot eight times in the chest is critically ill at the same hospital.
The other seven ladies, aged 2033, were shot elsewhere but were in good condition at Mount Sinai and Stroger Hospitals. 20-year-old woman shot in right leg.24-year-old woman scratched right wrist. 28-year-old woman injured right knee. A 30-year-old lady was wounded in the right shoulder and arm. A 30-year-old lady was hit.
33-year-old woman had tiny belly sliced. Unnamed woman’s right arm was scratched.
The shooter remains unidentified. Crime occurred in the dangerous 10th Police District. 20 deaths occurred from January 1 to July 23. Last year’s number. Deaths dropped 15% from 113 to 96.
The 1500 block of South Keeler has had fights. On June 5, a 20-year-old man was shot in an alley, and on July 13, 2020, a 17-year-old was wounded in the arm.
A police chase on this block killed 15-year-old Steven Rosenthal. The boy’s family suspected the cops and questioned the tape’s clarity. Police said the child ran away with a gun that inadvertently went off.
