San Antonio Compassionate Volunteers: Serve Meals and Support to Migrants in Need

San Antonio Compassionate Volunteers: Every morning, volunteers at the Food Bank’s kitchen in San Antonio help migrants go to different places and cook meals. Workers like Mendy Escamilla, who oversees volunteer services at the San Antonio Food Bank, do this work out of passion. It’s about helping anyone in need, not just at the Migrant Resource Center.

This kitchen is efficient for making a variety of food quickly. From 6 a.m. to 11 a.m., the kitchen buzzes with the energy of many workers dedicated to making meals. The kitchen has been bustling lately.

We make around 3,230 meals for the immigration center. The number has grown. Currently, about 6,800 meals are being served,” says Escamilla.

There’s a great need, and the recipients are grateful. Israel Chirino and others who receive food at the center also recognize the need for cleaning supplies. This shows that there are other ways to help than giving food.

When Mariano Trevino and his family saw hungry people at the Migrant Resource Center, they were moved to help. To help Chirino feel better, they quickly bought drinks and food.

Their statement is clear and impactful. We’re people. We enjoy helping.

Due to the kindness of its people, San Antonio has a request. They ask people to work with groups that can distribute these things to those in need.

When the need is clear, and people are ready to help, it shows the strength of the human spirit when volunteers, donors, and fans unite.
