Patriot Giving Thanksgiving Mobile Parks: Recreation Inaugural Event Spreads Warmth and Support in Tillman

Patriot Giving Thanksgiving Mobile Parks: Mobile Parks and Recreation organized the first-ever Patriot Giving Thanksgiving event in Tillman’s Corner to support the homeless community. Activity/Volunteer Coordinator Gary Thomas, who used to work in the area, expressed the significance of addressing the rise in homelessness and providing meals to neighbors in need.

A total of 57 volunteers, representing diverse backgrounds and cities, gathered at First Baptist Church Tillman’s Corner to dedicate four hours to serving hot Thanksgiving meals. The menu included turkey, green beans, casseroles, and bread products, offering a traditional holiday dinner experience.

Contributions from various groups, including Waterfront Rescue Mission and Authentic Life Church, made the meal possible through donations. Volunteers shared their appreciation for the opportunity to be a blessing to those facing challenges, emphasizing the warmth that comes from helping others during tough times.

Clement Williams highlighted the economic challenges many people face and expressed the joy of contributing to positive change. The event aimed not only to provide meals but also to convey a message of caring and hope.

The Parks and Recreation department plans to make the Patriot Giving Thanksgiving event an annual occurrence, continuing to bring smiles and support to the community during the holiday season. The initiative reflects a commitment to making a positive impact on both the stomachs and spirits of those in need.
