Nick Clark Shines as South MVP in 65th North-South All-Star Classic Victory

Nick Clark Shines as South MVP: Daphne running back Nick Clark closed his high school football career with a stellar performance in the 65th North-South All-Star Classic, leading the South All-Stars to a 31-28 victory over the North. Clark, who rushed for 102 yards on 14 carries and scored two touchdowns, earned the South MVP award for his outstanding contribution.

Postgame, Clark expressed his gratitude, saying, “It’s a blessing. I appreciate everybody, and everybody had faith in me, just like I had faith in my teammates, and we did what we had to do.”

DJ Butler, a running back from Davidson, also played a significant role in the South’s success on the ground. The duo, along with their teammates, amassed 261 rushing yards and 21 first downs. South kicker Nick Peerson secured the win with a 33-yard field goal, breaking the 28-28 tie in the closing seconds.

Several Gulf Coast players showcased their skills in the All-Star game. UMS-Wright defensive back Joe Lott recorded an interception in the first half, while Ronnie Royal from Gulf Shores made a notable impact on special teams with a long return. Foley running back Kolton Nero contributed 42 rushing yards, and Josh Flowers from Baker added 45 yards on five carries.

Other local All-Star players included Ty Goodwill (Faith Academy), Ashton Wright (BC Rain DL), Logan Joellenbeck (Foley OL), Brandon Autery (Saraland OL), Graham Uter (Bayside Academy OL), James Bolton (MGM WR), KJ Beckham (Baker ATH), and Jerrian Graham (Vigor ATH).

The South team, coached by Kirk Johnson of Montgomery Catholic, secured its second consecutive victory, bringing the overall series lead to 35-28-2. The win was celebrated as a great experience, with coaches and players expressing their joy and gratitude for the opportunity.
