The momentous official ceremony unfolded at Mountain Brook City Hall on Nov. 9, marking a pivotal stride toward securing the park’s enduring legacy.

A cherished grassroots endeavor, the Alabama Veterans Memorial Park has stood as a poignant tribute to the state’s veterans since its official inauguration in 2001. Over the years, it has evolved into a hallowed space for remembrance and reflection.

Encompassing 22 acres, the park boasts a Hall of Honor, a solemn tribute housing the names of over 11,000 state residents who made the ultimate sacrifice in action from 1900 onward. The park also features a poignant 1,000-foot Memorial Trail, leading visitors to the dignified American Flag Plaza adorned with a towering 120-foot flagpole and pillars of information chronicling Alabama Medal of Honor recipients.
