Justyn Ross Faces Six-Game Suspension: Over Violation of NFL Conduct Policy

Justyn Ross Faces Six-Game Suspension: Kansas City Chiefs wideout, Justyn Ross, got benched for six regular-season games by NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell, as announced on Friday.

The hometown hero from Alabama got the suspension for violating the NFL’s Personal Conduct Policy.

Having missed the past five games on the Commissioner Exempt List while the NFL looked into his situation, Ross only needs to sit out one more game before making a comeback after the Chiefs play the Buffalo Bills on Monday.

Ross landed on the Commissioner Exempt List on Oct. 27, three days after he pled not guilty to misdemeanor charges in Johnson County (Kansas) District Court. The charges included domestic battery with no priors and criminal damage of less than $1,000.

Arrested on Oct. 23 in Shawnee, Kansas, Ross was released on a $2,500 personal-recognizance bond after his arraignment.

Ross got diversion in the case, and the charges will be dropped once he completes the court-approved program.

Being on the Commissioner Exempt List doesn’t mean suspension by the league commissioner. Players on this list still get paid but can’t practice or play until the legal matter prompting the action is resolved to the NFL’s satisfaction.

Ross will need to return the five game checks received while on the list to comply with the six-game suspension imposed on Friday, costing him nearly $323,000 in missed pay.

In his second season with the Chiefs, Ross, who hails from Central-Phenix City, didn’t play during his first campaign. Joining as an undrafted rookie from Clemson last year, foot surgery kept him on injured reserve for the 2022 season.

This season, Ross has been on the field for 81 offensive snaps and 63 special-teams plays in seven games, with three receptions for 34 yards.

At Central-Phenix City, Ross earned ASWA first-team All-State recognition in 2016 and 2017 after being a second-team pick in 2015. As a senior, Ross caught 37 passes for 730 yards and 13 touchdowns and returned 14 punts for a 27.4-yard average and two touchdowns.
