J. Larry Newton School Honors Veterans: with Heartfelt Parade of Thanks

J. Larry Newton School Honors Veterans: FAIRHOPE, Ala. J. Larry Newton School students shared a heartfelt red, white, and blue thank-you in a unique parade, with veterans honored in their presence.

“I just like appreciating’ the veterans and what they did for us,” said third-grader Alex Stuckey.

Amid patriotic tunes and “Old Glory” adorning the surroundings, it’s a celebration of gratitude.

“The best part is backing’ up for what they’ve done, the sacrifice, and just how they’ve secured our freedom,” said sixth-grader Landon Nolte.

For Vietnam veteran Kenny Pierce, it’s especially meaningful.

“Reflects on everything that went down. Makes me grateful for those who appreciate us and say, ‘Thank you for your service.’ It means a heap to me.”

Third-grader Tate Quaites shares the sentiment.

“Cause they sacrifice a bunch for us, and we got stand by

Parades, by definition, mark a significant day or event.

This parade doubles as a living history lesson, taught by those who’ve experienced it.

“It’s the veterans from the Revolutionary War who granted us our freedom and all the veterans since, safeguarding our liberty,” shared Navy veteran Jim Smith. “I hope these young’uns remember that when it’s their turn to serve.”
