Gov. Ivey awards Dollar 2.5 Million: to Combat Homelessness Across Alabama

Gov. Ivey awards Dollar 2.5 Million: Governor Kay Ivey has awarded over $2.5 million through the Emergency Solutions Grants program to aid Alabamians facing homelessness or on the brink. These funds will empower local governments and nonprofits to deliver housing and related services, offering a lifeline to those in need.

Governor Ivey stated, “Emergency Solutions Grants are a measure to help people who, for a number of reasons, find themselves in need of a safe shelter. I commend these governments and organizations for assisting these individuals and families by ensuring they have secure housing during a time of great need.”

Administered by the Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs (ADECA), these grants, courtesy of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, will bolster initiatives ranging from law enforcement support to victim programs and economic development.

Kenneth Boswell, Director of ADECA, highlighted the impact, saying, “With help from this grant program, local governments and nonprofits have been able to step in to help people in Alabama with emergency housing needs.
