Georgia Middle School Teacher Faces Charges for Allegedly: Threatening Student Israeli Flag Dispute

Georgia Middle School Teacher Faces Charges: A middle school teacher in Georgia got himself in hot water after folks reported to a sheriff’s investigator that he made threats against a student who objected to an Israeli flag in his classroom.

Benjamin Reese, who teaches at Warner Robins Middle School, found himself in cuffs on Dec. 8, facing charges of making terroristic threats and cruelty to children, as per Houston County jail records. He managed to get released on bond just two days later.

We tried reaching out to him via his school email, but no response. Same with phone calls; it seems like he’s keeping a low profile. Houston County District Attorney William Kendall mentioned that Reese asked for a public defender, but there’s no attorney listed for him.

Here’s the scoop: The student claimed she entered Reese’s classroom on Dec. 7, noticed the Israeli flag, and told him she found it offensive because of the conflict between Israelis and Palestinians. According to her, Reese, claiming to be Jewish, got all worked up and accused her of being antisemitic.

Witnesses, including school staff, shared that they heard Reese dropping some choice words and shouting about cutting off the student’s head.

In a statement, Jennifer Jones, the spokesperson for Houston County School District, mentioned that Reese hasn’t set foot in the middle school since Dec. 7.

He’s under some serious conditions for his bond—staying away from both the school and the student he allegedly threatened, according to Kendall.

Kendall also spilled the beans that he’s gunning for an indictment from a grand jury next month.
