Cramer Children Center in Florence: The Cramer Children’s Center in Florence, Alabama, has been awarded a substantial grant of $404,433 as part of a $2.4 million allocation benefiting 11 agencies dedicated to supporting child abuse victims across 15 counties in north Alabama.

This grant, provided by the U.S. Department of Justice and administered by the Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs, plays a crucial role in sustaining the essential services offered by the Cramer Children’s Center.

The center, which operates in Colbert, Franklin, Lauderdale, and Lawrence counties, collaborates with law enforcement and the Department of Human Resources to conduct forensic interviews with child abuse victims. These interviews aim to gather essential details about the incidents. Additionally, the center provides follow-up trauma therapy for children and non-acute medical exams to ensure their physical well-being.

Monica Haddock, the Clinical Supervisor/Senior Forensic Interviewer at the Cramer Children’s Center, expressed deep appreciation for the grant, emphasizing its significance in supporting their vital work. The center, which sees over 400 children annually, plays a crucial role in helping victims of child abuse feel safe and supported.

The grant funds, particularly allocated for staff salaries, are instrumental in sustaining the services provided by the center. Haddock highlighted the importance of these services, emphasizing the need for continued support in a field where their assistance is crucial for the well-being of affected children.
