Christmas at Sloss Lake: Russellville Festive Inaugural Celebration Brings Holiday

Christmas at Sloss Lake: Looking for some holiday cheer? Head to Russellville this afternoon from 1:30-7:30 p.m. for the inaugural Christmas at Sloss Lake celebration.

The festivities promise a delightful mix of food vendors, holiday shopping, Christmas music, a train ride, photo opportunities, and inflatables. Around 27 vendors are gearing up to participate, with five food trucks adding to the culinary offerings.

According to Paula McDougle, a member of the band Purpose, the idea for a Christmas celebration had been brewing for several years. This year, with the construction of a stage at Sloss Lake, the plans fell into place. The hope is to make this an annual tradition.

Local talents, including Jessica McSpadden and Justin Richardson with his band, will entertain from around 3:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. At 4:45 p.m., get ready for some festive Christmas songs. The highlight of the event? Santa Claus arriving on a firetruck at 5 p.m. Following Santa’s grand entrance, Purpose and Clear Vision will take the stage. The celebration will culminate with a live nativity a couple of hours later.

The overarching goal? To create a joyful and encouraging atmosphere, reminding everyone that Christmas is a happy time. McDougle emphasized, “We’re just wanting people to have a good time and come out, but we’re also going to be sharing the story of Jesus.” Sounds like a perfect way to kick off the holiday season!
