Cayson McClung Special Racing Support: North Alabama Speedway Hosts Fundraiser

Cayson McClung Special Racing Support: The North Alabama Speedway revved up for a special fundraising race, rallying support for young Cayson McClung, who bravely defended his mother from harm. The event aimed to gather donations to cover Cayson’s medical expenses and contribute to the funeral costs for his late mother, Ashley.

It was a thrilling night for Cayson, his family, friends, and the tight-knit Shoals community as they came together to enjoy a unique evening of racing.

WAAY 31 has closely followed Cayson’s recovery and the journey home from the hospital since the tragic events of October 29th.

Expressing her thoughts, Cayson’s sister, Gracie Yarbrough, shared, “The boy loves racing; that’s really what it boils down to. Again, the support—it’s just amazing how people can come together as a community and support a family in need at this time. He loves this, and they know he loves this, so they came together for him.”

The North Alabama Speedway swiftly organized the fundraiser race on Friday night, showcasing their solidarity in supporting one of their most devoted fans. Bethany Fisher emphasized, “Our racing community is really like a big family, so when something like this happens, everyone is great to jump on board and help.”

Cayson’s family acknowledges that his strength, coupled with the unwavering support from the community, plays a crucial role in his journey to recovery and healing. Billy McClung, Cayson’s father, shared, “We’re doing really well. He’s got a lot of support, and he’s thankful for all of it.”

Gracie Yarbrough, Cayson’s sister, added, “He’s a very strong, passionate boy. Obviously, everyone knows the situation we’ve been in. It takes a very strong person to go through such a thing and come out the way that he has. He’s healing physically and mentally tremendously. I don’t know what I would do if I was in his shoes. The support has been absolutely amazing. If it wasn’t for the support, I don’t know if we would be getting through it the way that we have.”

The family expresses deep gratitude for the ongoing support and prayers from the community.
