Bay Minette Community Unites to Honor Veterans: Donates Essential Supplies to Veterans Home

Bay Minette Community Unites to Honor Veterans: Bay Minette, AL  A trailer filled with snacks, toiletries, and everyday items became a symbol of gratitude as it was unloaded in an assembly line at the William F. Green Veterans Home in Bay Minette.

J.D. Harrison, a Marine veteran and lineman with Baldwin EMC, expressed the significance of the gesture, saying, “It’s nice to know these guys are not forgotten.” The community had generously donated these items during Baldwin EMC’s blood and supply drive earlier in the month.

Harrison shared the motivation behind the initiative, stating, “A few years ago, they were showing veterans appreciation to the employees that were veterans, and it just seemed to me that we were in a better spot than some of the older veterans. If there was a way we could pass that along, we really needed to do that.”

The donation surpassed expectations, with Mark Ingram, spokesman for Baldwin EMC, noting, “This far exceeded our expectations, and what better place to donate.”

William F. Green Veterans Home is home to 150 veterans from across the state. Director Charlie Allen emphasized, “Every day here is Veterans Day.”

While these veterans may not be in the spotlight for many, Harrison highlighted that they are not forgotten. “It’s good to put it back out there and let people know the sacrifices these guys made and just that we appreciate them.”

The donations serve as a poignant reminder of a community that continues to express gratitude for the sacrifices made by those who served.
