Averitt Expands Presence with State-of-the-Art: Averitt, ranked No. 22 on the CCJ Top 250 list, has expanded its footprint with a new facility in the South Alabama Logistics Park in Mobile. The state-of-the-art facility comprises a 120,000-square-foot warehouse and a 35,000-square-foot cross-dock, strategically located near the Port of Mobile to enhance regional and international logistics capabilities.
This expansion is expected to create 32 new jobs while retaining the existing 47 jobs in Mobile. The facility includes a 60-door less-than-truckload (LTL) dock with ground-level access, a fully ventilated and heated adjoining warehouse with 20 doors, over 400 truck and trailer parking spaces, a Driver Support center with amenities, and heightened security measures.
Barry Blakely, Averitts president and chief operating officer, emphasized the company’s commitment to addressing the needs of regional shippers, incorporating eco-friendly choices, and strategic planning.
Averitt has been operating in Mobile since 1988 and sees this development as a significant milestone in supporting shippers in the Mobile area and those using the Port of Mobile for international cargo distribution. The facility integrates energy-efficient LED lighting, motion sensors, all-electric forklifts, and other environmentally responsible technologies as part of Averitt’s sustainability initiatives.
