Auburn Basketball Surges in AP Poll Conversations: After Dominant Victory Over Indiana

Auburn Basketball Surges in AP Poll Conversations: Auburn is making its way back into the Associated Press top 25 poll conversation after a notable victory over Indiana, securing the fourth spot just outside the rankings. The Tigers, having received 57 voting points in the Week 6 poll, showcased their prowess with a commanding 104-76 win over Indiana.

Head coach Bruce Pearl commended the team’s stellar performance, acknowledging the outstanding contributions from virtually every player on the roster. With a current season record of 6-2, Auburn is poised for further success in upcoming matchups.

Despite the strong showing, computer rankings, notably KenPom, place Auburn even higher, ranking them as the No. 11 team in the country and the second-best in the SEC. In this week’s AP poll, only two SEC teams secured rankings: No. 12 Tennessee (moving up five spots) and No. 14 Kentucky (moving up two spots).

Ole Miss and Texas A&M precede Auburn in the receiving votes category, with Ole Miss standing out as one of the season’s biggest surprises, boasting a perfect 10-0 record. Former Auburn guard Allen Flanigan has been a key player for Ole Miss, contributing to their impressive start.

Alabama and South Carolina also garnered votes, showcasing the competitive landscape within the SEC. Auburn is scheduled for two upcoming games, facing UNC Asheville in Huntsville, Alabama, and USC at home in Neville Arena.
