Arrested Suspect in Lawrence County Homicide: In a shocking twist to the Lawrence County home invasion, Sheriff Max Sanders revealed that one of the arrested suspects, Auburn Moore, had a direct connection to the victims, Dustin and Karen Grimes. Moore was employed by the Grimes, and investigators suspect that dissatisfaction with her wages may have fueled the violent incident.
The Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office has been diligently investigating the homicide, home invasion, and kidnapping that occurred at the Grimes’ residence. According to Sheriff Sanders, Jordan Hernandez and Auburn Moore broke into the Grimes’ home on Friday night with the intent to rob them. Tragically, Dustin Grimes lost his life while trying to protect his wife.
Karen Grimes was then coerced to go to an ATM to withdraw money, but she managed to escape and seek help at a nearby gas station. Fortunately, their daughter, present during the incident, remained unharmed. Sheriff Sanders emphasized that this was not a random occurrence, stating, “I think it was a single incident. I dont think the neighbors have to worry about anyone.”
The shocking revelation came as Sheriff Sanders explained Moore’s employment history with the Grimes family. Moore had left their employ on Friday, expressing her intention not to return. The home invasion occurred shortly after her departure, leading investigators to consider her as the main instigator in orchestrating the crime.
Moore’s arrest, live-streamed on Facebook, included claims of ties to a drug cartel, but Sheriff Sanders expressed skepticism, stating he does not believe those assertions. Jordan Hernandez was apprehended a day later after leading police on a chase on Highway 20. A third suspect is also involved, but details remain undisclosed pending the ongoing investigation.
