Arrest Made in Lawrence County: Home Invasion Murder Case

Arrest Made in Lawrence County: In Lawrence County, Alabama, the Morgan County Sheriff’s Office reports that a man wanted in connection to a murder is now behind bars after a manhunt on Highway 20.

As per Decatur Police, Jordan Hernandez took law enforcement on a brief chase after being spotted on a Sunday afternoon. In the pursuit, he allegedly fired multiple shots towards officers. His journey ended in a crash near the Calvary Assembly Church on Highway 20, where he fled into the nearby woods. Law enforcement, with the assistance of K9s, located Hernandez, and he surrendered without incident. He now faces charges of Attempted Murder related to the shots fired at officers.

Deputies narrate that Hernandez, along with a woman named Auburn Moore, entered a home on County Road 245 with intentions of committing a robbery early Saturday morning. Tragically, Dustin Grimes lost his life while trying to protect his wife during the home invasion.

Hernandez and Moore reportedly continued their crime spree by stealing from the residence and kidnapping Grimes’ wife.

Ms. Grimes managed to escape after the suspects coerced her into withdrawing money from an ATM in the East Lawrence area. She sought refuge at a nearby convenience store and dialed 911.

With the assistance of Ms. Grimes, law enforcement identified the two suspects and secured warrants for Murder, Robbery, and Kidnapping.

Auburn Renee Moore of New Hope was apprehended on Saturday night in Decatur and booked into the Lawrence County jail.

Authorities are withholding the identity of a potential third person involved for investigative purposes.
