Alabama Mother Urges Action as Video Surfaces: of Brutal Attack on Son at Halloween Party

Alabama Mother Urges Action as Video Surfaces: A mother in Lawrence County, Alabama, is demanding action from law enforcement after disturbing videos on social media showed a group of young men beating her son, Brayden, until he lost consciousness. The incident occurred at a Halloween party in the Caddo community, and despite being over two weeks since the attack, no arrests have been made.

The footage captures Brayden being pursued and assaulted by several individuals at the house party on October 28. Britney Burney, his mother, expressed that the assault continued until someone intervened to rescue him.

According to Burney, Brayden attempted to escape the group after the initial attack. “He was taken to the ground and beaten unconscious,” Burney recounted. “A friend got him to the car to leave, and the guys followed him to the car and punched him through the windows. It was two different guys. He gets out of the car and takes off running, and they take him down and beat him unconscious again.”

The video shows an unidentified person lifting Brayden away from the crowd. Once home, Britney Burney promptly took him to the hospital. She then filed a report with the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO), identifying at least two of the assailants.

“Imagine seeing your child on the ground unconscious and completely helpless, being beaten, and nobody is doing anything but standing around laughing and watching and videoing. It just tears your heart out, and it’s just not acceptable,” Burney expressed.

News 19 contacted the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office regarding the incident. A spokesperson stated that the assault is classified as a misdemeanor, and although two attackers have been identified, no arrest warrants have been issued.

Britney Burney revealed that her son sustained an orbital bone fracture and severe bruising. She continues to seek the identities of others involved in the attack and mentioned that the family has hired an attorney.
