Alabama GOP Gears Up for Presidential Debate: University of Alabama campus

Alabama GOP Gears Up for Presidential Debate: Down in Tuscaloosa, the stage is all set for a good debate among some leading Republican folks running for president, right there on the campus of the University of Alabama.

WBRC had a chat with this political smarty-pants, Paul DeMarco, who used to be a big-shot Republican in the state. Paul’s saying, “Enough with the talk, folks! We need some substance.” He’s reckoning’ that voters want more than just fancy words; they’re looking’ for these candidates to spill the beans on what they’ll actually do about the economy, that border situation, crime, and keeping our country secure.

Paul’s got a hunch that these candidates, who’ve been doing a whole lot of talking, need to get down to brass tacks. They got figure out how to stand out from the pack and make sure they’re in the top two after these early caucuses and primaries.

Now, just the other day, the Alabama GOP threw a shindig for one of the big-name candidates, Vivek Ramaswamy, over at Ross Bridge. Vivek had a few things to say, like shutting down the FBI, IRS, and some other government outfits. He’s a 38-year-old whiz-kid in the tech world and claims he can connect with the younguns better than any other candidate.

ALGOP Chairman John Wahl, bless his heart, thinks Alabama is about as Republican as a potluck dinner at the church. He’s crossing his fingers that this debate will make a real difference with the folks in the Heart of Dixie.

“It’s showing’ off our sweet state, letting’ folks meet the candidates, and it’s a darn good opportunity. Plus, it’s the first debate this time around where both parties are squabbling, held right there on a university campus. And you know, young voters are as important as sweet tea on a hot summer day,” said Wahl with a grin on his face.
