Alabama Football Icon to Be Honored with ASHOF: Alabama Sports Hall of Fame (ASHOF) has chosen to recognize Kerry Goode, a Crimson Tide football icon and advocate for ALS, as the 2024 Distinguished Alabama Sportsman.

Hailing from Town Creek, Alabama, Goode served as a key member and captain of the University of Alabama football team during the mid-’80s. His journey extended to the NFL, where he both played and coached.

In 2015, Goode faced the challenging diagnosis of ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis). Demonstrating unwavering resilience in the fight against the disease, Kerry and his wife Tanja established the Goode Foundation. This foundation actively contributes to the support of ALS patients and their families.

The foundation is dedicated to:

1. Facilitating access to essential diagnostic and treatment services.

He is also the proud recipient of prestigious awards, including the Paul Bryant Alumni Athlete Award, Vivian Malone “Crimson Flame” Courage Award, and the University of Alabama Distinguished Alumni Award.

Kerry Goode will be in esteemed company as he joins the distinguished list of Alabama Sports Hall of Fame Distinguished Alabama Sportsmen. This list features notable figures like Hall Thompson (1987), Jack Warner (1989), Ray Scott (1990), Dr. James Andrews (1992), Dr. David Bronner (1994), Dr. Wilford Bailey (1995), Tom York (1996), Dr. Larry Lemak (1997), Bill Legg (2001), John Croyle (2002), George Mann (2004), David Housel (2007), Mal Moore (2007), Ronald Bruno (2009), Mickey Newsome (2010), Kennith Blankenship (2014), Charles Kelly (2014), Dr. Gaylon McCollough (2017), and J.T. “Jabo” Waggoner (2019).
