Alabama Couple Arrested: In Jack, Alabama, an alarming incident unfolded as a couple, Michael Shane Halstead, 44, and Karen Tysinger Halstead, 42, faced arrest for freezing the body of their 19-year-old son. Henry County Sheriff’s Deputies apprehended the duo in Coffee County, and they now sit behind bars at the Henry County Jail, with a bond of $175,000 each set by Judge James Peterson, charged with abusing a corpse.
The macabre discovery occurred in September when the new owners of the Halsteads’ former residence stumbled upon the decomposing body of Logan Michael Halstead, covered with blankets, a shower curtain, cardboard, and a plastic bag, neatly placed in a freezer. The call reporting the grim finding came in at 11:37 on a Sunday.
The couple’s son had been in the freezer since late August, according to authorities, and a comprehensive autopsy by the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences is underway. With the potential for murder charges looming, the investigation aims to unravel the circumstances surrounding this tragic event.
Reports indicate that Logan, the deceased, was receiving disability benefits due to ongoing medical issues. The Alabama Department of Human Resources stepped in, taking custody of the couple’s other two childrentwin boys aged 13.

The Department of Human Resources had a challenging situation on their hands, given allegations that Michael tried to conceal his son’s passing from his wife and the other children, relocating them to a motel room after placing Logan in the freezer.
In a chilling revelation, Michael admitted to hiding his son’s body during a phone call to the Headland Police Department on October 11. Despite his confession, when officers investigated, they initially couldn’t locate the concealed remains. Michael contends in court that his wife was unaware of his actions, while authorities maintain their belief that she was cognizant before their eventual arrest.
