Aaron Estrada Performance Leads Alabama: In Tuscaloosa, Alabama, Aaron Estrada’s stellar performance of 27 points led the 24th-ranked Alabama team to a decisive 102-80 victory over Indiana State on Friday night.

Mark Sears shone in the second half, contributing 15 of his 22 points and finishing with four rebounds and two assists. Grant Nelson added 20 points and led Alabama (2-0) with eight rebounds.

Estrada, reflecting on the game, stated, “I think it’s scary for the other team, honestly. I started out the game hot, then they started keying on me, and that allowed Mark and Grant and the other guys to get off and make everything easier.”

Although Indiana State initially took the lead, Alabama responded strongly, scoring 13 of the next 16 points, securing a lead they never relinquished.

Alabama coach Nate Oats emphasized the need for defensive improvement, saying, “We got to continue to get better on defense. We’re going to keep preaching defense, defense, defense.”

Estrada showcased his skills early in the game, contributing significantly to Alabama’s first-half dominance with 22 points, five rebounds, five assists, and two steals.

Alabama’s offensive strength, fueled by transfers like Estrada and Nelson, continues to shine. The duo accounted for 87 of Alabama’s 207 points in its first two games.

Looking ahead, Alabama is set to host South Alabama on Tuesday, marking the third of four consecutive home games to start the season. Meanwhile, Indiana State will host IUPUI on Tuesday for its first home game against a Division I opponent this season.
