Belforest Firefighters with Christmas Trees to Boost Funding

Belforest Firefighters with Christmas Trees: In Belforest, Alabama, our firefighters are looking to spruce up our funding with Christmas trees.

“When we’re talking about funding in the fire department, we’re pretty much limited to what the county and the state provide. So, when we have projects like building new buildings or things that go beyond our budget, fundraising really comes in handy to make those purchases,” explained Lt. Christopher McCain.

Like many volunteer departments, Belforest relies on our community’s support for life-saving gear and other essentials crucial in emergencies.

“Over the last couple of years, the prices of our everyday equipment have tripled. Those items have skyrocketed, and our tax dollars haven’t quite caught up in recent years,” McCain shared.

Not only are prices on the rise, but the Belforest community is booming, leading to an increase in emergency calls.

“Our call volume here in Belforest has surged nearly 20% this year alone. With several new subdivisions in the works, having the funds and equipment to handle the additional calls from new residents is crucial,” McCain emphasized.

This weekend marks the final opportunity to snag a Christmas tree at the Belforest Volunteer Fire Department. Prices have been slashed, and our firefighters are hopeful for support before the holiday season wraps up.
