Martin Bluff Rd widening project set to resume under new agreement

Martin Bluff Rd widening project set to resume: Down in Gautier, Mississippi, things are getting back on track with the Martin Bluff Road widening project. The city council is all set to give the nod to a supplemental agreement on December 19.

Now, back in mid-October, the contractors threw in a request for some extra time on their clock. They stumbled upon some not-so-friendly materials at the project site, among other surprises. This new agreement steps in to tackle the increased project quantities, tweaking the project’s timeline.

Talking numbers, the contract value is taking a hike by $1,221,986.10. Yep, you read that right. That’s for some extra digging and keeping the traffic flow smooth. They’ve tacked on 65 more days to the contract, making it a total commitment of 165 days for the contractors.

But wait, there’s more. Before the Gautier City Council gives the green light on December 19, there’s a formal nod needed from the Mississippi Transportation Commission. Once everyone’s on board, work boots hit the ground again on December 18.

If you’re cruising down Martin Bluff Road in the next three weeks, brace yourself for a daily one-lane situation from Collingsworth Boulevard to Homestead Boulevard.

While the project has encountered challenges, we are excited about the prospect of witnessing its successful completion.”
