Auburn University Pell City High School Battle: Get ready for the first-ever Metallica marching band competition! Bands from five categories will be putting on their best performances of Metallica songs.

Alabama proudly boasts three finalists in the competition—Auburn University in the Division 1 College category, Pell City High School in the large high school category, and Cleveland High School in the small high school category.

Metallica Marching Band Competition will award over $180K in prizes

A panel of judges will narrow down the high school and collegiate finalists, with the ultimate prize winners chosen by Metallica. Additionally, fans will have the opportunity to vote for their favorite in both the high school and collegiate categories.

According to the competition’s , winners will be awarded musical equipment for their school program, furnished by Metallica and our sponsors. Here’s a breakdown of the prize value of each category:

  • College Division 1—$75,000
  • College Division 2 + 3—$40,000
  • High School (Small)—$15,000
  • High School (Medium)—$15,000
  • High School (Large)—$15,000
  • Fan Favorite (High School)—$10,000
  • Fan Favorite (Collegiate)—$10,000

Voting is now taking place. Winners will be announced during the week of January 1, 2024.
