Pine Level Inaugural Mayor and Council: Marking a Historic for Alabama Newest Town

Pine Level Inaugural Mayor and Council: PINE LEVEL, Ala. (WSFA) – Pine Level, Central Alabama’s newest town, marked a significant milestone with the official swearing-in of its first mayor and council members. The town, which voted to incorporate in September, held a historic ceremony at the Pine Level Community Center on Monday.

Mayor Zachary Bigley, expressing the surreal nature of the opportunity, reflected on the journey. “Five years ago, I don’t even think this was a thought in my mind at all, not even about a town,” Bigley remarked. His wife, Rachel Bigley, played a role in the ceremony by holding the Bible while the Autauga County probate judge administered the oath of office.

The ceremony gathered a diverse audience, including family, friends, and local leaders like the mayor of nearby Prattville. Bigley emphasized the sense of togetherness, stating, “It’s good to know that we’re in this together.”

Probate Judge Kimberly Kervin, who had actively researched the process of establishing a new municipality, handed over election results and other crucial information to the town of Pine Level. She commended the residents for their efforts over the past year in making the incorporation a reality.

Looking ahead, Mayor Bigley envisions the potential for more public parks and businesses in Pine Level, emphasizing the collaborative effort required. The town is supported by a team of five council members.

Councilman Greg Bixler requested patience as they embark on this new journey. “First thing we need is prayers, for sure, because this is all new to us,” Bixler said.

The inaugural council meeting is anticipated to be held at the Pine Level Volunteer Fire Department, with potential moves to the community center as the town establishes itself. Both the mayor and the town council are set to serve a two-year term. As Pine Level embarks on this new chapter, the community eagerly anticipates the positive developments that lie ahead.
