Tuberville’s opposition to the Pentagon’s funding of trips for service members requiring reproductive health procedures, especially in states where abortions are illegal, sparked the controversy. The delay in promotions, lasting 10 months, drew criticism from MSNBC anchor Lawrence O’Donnell, who called it “grotesquely stupid and cruel.”
