Alabama Hero Corey Garmon Resilient Journey: Corey Garmon, a combat-wounded veteran, bravely served in Afghanistan until a life-altering event on July 11, 2012. While on a rescue mission, he stepped on an Improvised Explosive Device (IED), changing his life forever.
In the aftermath, Garmon faced the harsh reality of losing his right leg, amputation of his left leg, and severe wounds to his left arm. The physical toll was immense, and soon the financial burden added to his challenges, with bills stacking up relentlessly.
Reflecting on his journey, Garmon expresses gratitude for Semper Fi & America’s Fund, an organization that has supported him with approximately $80,000 to $100,000 over the years. This aid has significantly helped him adapt to life with prosthetic legs.
Despite the daily struggles, such as navigating with prosthetics, Garmon maintains a positive outlook, considering his experiences as some of the best things that ever happened to him. He emphasizes the importance of family, meeting incredible people, and engaging in activities he wouldn’t have experienced without this life-altering event.
Garmon attributes much of his resilience to the support of Semper Fi & America’s Fund, acknowledging the significant impact they’ve had on his life. The organization remains committed to assisting veterans like Garmon.
As a testament to their dedication, Semper Fi & America’s Fund announces a matching donation initiative until the year-end. The Bob & Renee Parsons Foundation and PXG will match every donation made to The Fund dollar-for-dollar, up to $10 million. This initiative aims to further support and make a difference in the lives of veterans in need.
