Christmas Cheer Takes Over Courtland and Moulton: Annual Parades Bring Southern Magic

Christmas Cheer Takes Over Courtland and Moulton: This past weekend, the streets of Courtland and Moulton were alive with holiday spirit as both towns held their annual Christmas parades, each unique in its theme and celebration.

On Thursday, November 30 at 6 p.m., the town of Courtland brought a wave of nostalgia with its ‘Driving Home for Christmas’ theme. The parade featured a variety of floats and performances, echoing the warm, reminiscent tones of Christmases past.

Notable among the parade highlights was 1st Place Float by North Alabama “Bama Wings”, 2nd Place Float by Courtland Clinic, and 3rd Place by Harvest Field Church. Lockheed Martin also participated with a float and marched ahead with a Lockheed Martin banner.

Hatton Band, LCHS Band, and the Hazlewood Dance Team kept everyone entertained with music and dancing, and Warehouse Coffee Truck provided brews to be sampled. “We had a great turnout of people that came to enjoy the festivities and the Christmas lights downtown and along the parade route.

Santa made his grand appearance riding in on the Courtland Fire Truck, and a couple of his elves came along for the ride,” said Mayor Linda Peebles. “If you were lucky enough, you could also get a peek at the Grinch, Mickey and Minnie Mouse along the route.

It was just perfect for an array of floats, vehicles, carriages, tractors, fire trucks, and of course horses. Courtland is proud to be the one to kick-off the Christmas Parade weekend for Lawrence County and then move on to our Christmas Open House on the 2nd Sunday in December.”
