Whats in store for the new Triangle Park
On November 13, the Fairhope City Council delved into the plans for Flying Creek Nature Preserve, formerly known as Triangle Park, fueled by a $1M grant in 2022. The envisioned project includes multi-use trails, outdoor classrooms, a kayak/canoe launch, a nature center, bird blinds, creek overlooks, informational/wayfinding signage, and seating/rest areas. Additionally, seven acres will be dedicated to preserving a longleaf forest, providing a haven for native plants and thriving wildlife. The transformation is set to bring a touch of nature’s charm to Fairhope.

Construction on Phase 1 starting soon
WKRG reports that the construction of Phase 1 for the Flying Creek Nature Preserve is slated to kick off in the first quarter of 2024. This phase encompasses multi-use nature trails, a connection to the Eastern Shore Trail, outdoor classrooms, a trailhead with an informational kiosk, a bicycle repair station, a restroom pavilion, and a low-impact development parking area.
The completion of Phases 1 and 2, including the construction of the nature center, is anticipated by fall 2024. Subsequent phases, Phase 3 and Phase 4, will then unfold, realizing the full spectrum of features in this expansive park.
