Sheffield Rolls into Decembe Trolley Tours: Set to Return

Sheffield Rolls into Decembe Trolley Tours: Colbert County Tourism has announced the return of Sheffield Trolley Tours for two days in December, following a successful run in October. Led by local historian Jimmy Austin, the two-hour historical journey through Sheffield’s vibrant past will take place on December 10 and 17, starting at 2 p.m. each day. The tours will depart from Sheffield City Hall, and tickets, priced at $10, can be purchased at the Sheffield Public Library.

The December tours will feature a dive into the local history of Sheffield with Austin as the knowledgeable guide. The trolley will traverse the historic area of North Montgomery Avenue, showcasing many homes adorned with holiday decorations. Due to the high demand for the October tours, additional dates have been scheduled for December.

Jimmy Austin expressed his excitement for the upcoming tours, stating, “The October trolley tours sold out on two of the three dates, so I suggest securing tickets from the Sheffield Public Library right away. There will only be 26 tickets sold for each of the two tours. I hope to see you on the trolley in December!”

Colbert County Tourism President and CEO Susann Hamlin emphasized the community’s interest in history and the positive impact of such events on both residents and visitors. She said, “These events not only attract visitors but also showcase Sheffield as a fantastic place to live. The pride our community members feel in our history inspires both locals and out-of-towners to join in, and we anticipate another fantastic turnout for the December Sheffield Trolley Tours.”

Jimmy Austin expressed his gratitude to the Colbert County Tourism Office for making these tours possible, providing an opportunity for people to connect with and appreciate the rich history of Sheffield.
