South Carolina Cancelled Plan Visit to Alabama: South Carolina running back prospect Daniel Hill, hailing from Meridian, Miss., decided to cancel his visit to Alabama for the LSU game this Saturday.
Hill has been considering South Carolina, Alabama, and Tennessee for several weeks now. While he hasn’t had the chance to attend a South Carolina game this season, he expresses a desire to make it to one later this month.
“Its going to be soon its just hard to play a game on a Friday and get up there on Saturday. Weve just got to schedule everything out,” Hill mentioned last week. “My feelings toward South Carolina havent changed, honestly. I know they are having a down season, but my feelings toward South Carolina havent changed.”
Hill receives daily communication from Tennessee, while Alabama contacts him sporadically. Despite being focused on his playoffs, he hasn’t set a commitment date. His father continues to advocate for Alabama.
In a recent game, Hill showcased his skills with 22 carries for 352 yards and three touchdowns.
The hopes South Carolina had to sway wide receiver Braylon Staley of Strom Thurmond from his commitment to Tennessee appear to be diminishing. Staley committed to the Volunteers in late June without offers from the Gamecocks or Clemson. South Carolina’s offer came in early October.
“We havent had anything here lately (from Stepp), just probably a few texts wishing him good luck the rest of the season,” said Brian Staley, Braylon’s father. “He did express a couple of times that they have about four games left in the season. We havent discussed anything as far as going to a game yet. Braylon has really been adamant about Tennessee as far as the relationship and everything theyve got coming on so far.”

Despite visiting Tennessee for the Texas A&M game a couple of weeks ago, Braylon Staley’s commitment remains strong. His father notes the Volunteers’ enthusiasm and plans for utilizing Braylon in their schemes.
“They are just ready to get him there. Theyve been talking about scheme-wise where they can use him. They really feel good about Braylon coming in to be able to help with Mike Matthews coming in. They really feel good about him.”
While the initial excitement for South Carolina’s offer was high, Braylon’s interest in playing for an SEC team in his home state has diminished. His commitment to Tennessee remains firm, and his father doesn’t foresee a change.
“Right now, at the moment, thats hard to even see. Its hard to see him turning away at this moment,” Staley said. “I think he feels really, really good about them as far as what they are doing with the offense. I think he feels real good about them. Tennessee kind of pulled out all the stops. They came at him full tilt. They didnt waste no time. From the jump, they were there.”
As of last Friday night, Staley had 55 catches for 957 yards and 13 touchdowns.
