Foley Police Apprehend Individual Accused: FOLEY, Ala. A Sylacauga man, Dylan Jemison, found himself in hot water after allegedly peddling fake gold bars to a Baldwin County resident. Jemison, 20, was arrested on Friday but has since been released from Baldwin County jail.
The accusation involves Jemison selling several 1-ounce fake gold bars to a resident at a hefty price. Lt. Glenn Hartenstein from the Foley Police Department revealed that the victim discovered the gold was fake when attempting to pawn it, realizing it was worth nothing.
Hartenstein explained, The victim had been through a social media marketplace where he was in contact with the offender to purchase these gold bars.
Foley Police confirmed that Jemison managed to sell over $2,500 worth of fake gold bars to at least one victim. The investigation intensified through social media after the initial victim reported the incident.
We were also able to obtain from him that there was a planned second purchase that was scheduled, and we were able to apprehend the offender at that plan here in Foley, added Hartenstein.
Upon his arrest, Jemison was found with dozens more fake gold bars, and police revealed he hinted at deceiving others into buying the fake gold.
Foley police issued a warning, advising anyone offered gold bars to authenticate them. Hartenstein urged, We just wanted to let the public know if anyone had purchased any gold bars from this individual, Dylan Thomas Jemison, please notify your local authorities.
