Orange Beach Greenlights: $46 Million High School Athletic Complex

Orange Beach Greenlights: Exciting developments are on the horizon for Orange Beach, Alabama, as the city embarks on a remarkable $46 million project—a cutting-edge athletic complex set to redefine sports facilities in the area. Unanimously approved by the city council on October 18th, this initiative is slated to take shape on the grounds of Orange Beach Middle and High School.

Here’s a glimpse of the key features that will make this athletic complex a standout destination

Stadium: The centerpiece of the complex, the stadium, will boast a grandstand with a seating capacity for 3,500 spectators. Enhanced with LED lighting, the stadium will offer modern amenities, including restrooms, concession areas, and a state-of-the-art Jumbo-Tron video board.

Gymnasium: A versatile space accommodating up to 1200 fans, the gymnasium will cater to a range of sports, from volleyball and basketball to wrestling. Beyond sports events, it will serve as a hub for various extracurricular activities.

Kinesiology and Exercise Science Building: This two-story facility aims to provide comprehensive support for athletes. It will house classrooms, meeting spaces, strength and conditioning facilities, a physical therapy room, and locker rooms for cheerleading, wrestling, and football. The goal is to offer dedicated practice areas and coaching spaces.

Track: Surrounding the turfed soccer/football field, the eight-lane track will provide spaces for high jump, long jump, pole vault, javelin, and discus.

Multipurpose Pavilion: Adding versatility to the complex, this pavilion will serve multiple functions, accommodating academic and extracurricular activities.

Construction is set to kick off in November, with the anticipated completion date slated for May 20, 2025. Get ready for a new era of sports and community engagement in Orange Beach!
