Alabama Reed Blankenship Win: for Eagles Victory

Alabama Reed Blankenship Win: Reed Blankenship, the former standout from West Limestone High School, demonstrated resilience, returning to Philadelphia’s lineup despite a recent rib injury and the addition of All-Pro safety Kevin Byard in a trade with the Tennessee Titans. In the Eagles’ 38-31 victory over the Washington Commanders, Blankenship’s impact was evident.

Shortly after the Eagles leveled the score at 24-24 with 8:47 remaining, Blankenship intercepted a pass from Washington quarterback Sam Howell on a second-and-15 play from the Commanders’ 20-yard line. His 17-yard return positioned Philadelphia on the Washington 15-yard line, and a penalty against the Commanders advanced the ball to the 7.

Blankenship shared his perspective on the crucial play, stating, “We were just waiting to capitalize on an opportunity. And the opportunity came, and you got to make a play on the ball, especially at that crucial point in the game.”

Reading Howell’s eyes and noting his focus on the backside, Blankenship seized the moment, successfully making a play that set up an 8-yard touchdown pass from Eagles QB Jalen Hurts to Julio Jones. This touchdown, occurring with 7:17 left, secured Philadelphia’s lead.

With two interceptions this season and three in his career, Blankenship showcased his playmaking ability. In addition to his impactful interception, he contributed eight tackles on defense and one on special teams against the Commanders.
