Ruben Casas Indicted: Bexar County DA Takes Action on Alleged 2021 Assault

Ruben Casas Indicted: Three days before the crime’s second anniversary, Ruben Casas is charged by the Bexar County DA’s Office.

The arrest was made on September 21, shortly after Investigation reviewed pending criminal cases in Bexar County for 2022 and 2023.

Bexar County court records show Casas injured a student in a fight on September 24, 2021, near North New Braunfels and Gibbs in San Antonio.

As stated in the charge, the assaulted man was at least 65 years old. Casas attacked with his foot, so he was charged with using a dangerous weapon. Casas has done this before, so the term has been extended. These factors may lead to a longer sentence for Casas if convicted.

The Bexar County Criminal District Attorney’s Office is dedicated to safeguarding the elderly. The Grand Jury found probable cause for the charge of damage to an older person. They promise to work hard on the case.

The first arrest order is about the DIY Carwash incident on Gibbs. The injured person offered to help Casas dry his car, but he declined. After their talk, they disagreed, and the injured person had to cross the street and leave. Casas chased him, and the wounded person grabbed a concrete piece during the fight. Casas supposedly hit his opponent, causing them to fall.

Witnesses said Casas choked the victim while others tried to help. Casas allegedly kicked and stomped on the victim’s head while he was on the ground.

Investigates sent the DA’s office a list of 5 suspects and their cases, asking why no charges were filed. No updates were given after the planned and canceled interview with District Attorney Joe Gonzales.

Charges were filed in 2 out of 5 cases investigated this week.
