San Antonio Private School Sudden Closure Shakes: Focus on Student Relocations

San Antonio Private School Sudden Closure Shakes: A private school in San Antonio had to close quickly, so students and teachers had to find new places to learn.

When Jubilee Academies Highland Park campus, which had just started classes on August 14, told parents and guardians that it would close on August 31, they were surprised. Due to the quick move, the students had to move to other Jubilee Academies by September 18.

Judy Regalado and other parents were upset that their children’s lessons were suddenly stopped. Dora Rodriguez said that many people were sad about the new ending.

When the families discovered the school was closing, they had different feelings. Judy Regalado’s heart was broken, which made Adriana Santillano feel sad.

The Associate Director of School Development, Abel De Leon, said that the Highland Park school only had 210 kids, less than the minimum of 300 needed to stay open. He changed in the middle of the year so he wouldn’t lose $1.5 million.

Injured students can move to Jubilee San Antonio or Jubilee Highland Hills. The private school system will offer bus service to and from the Highland Park site for the rest of the school year. It will make the change less complicated.

Parents and children are still scared, even though much has been done. There are worries about new teachers, different classes, and bigger class sizes. De Leon said Jubilee Academies would try to keep teachers and students together.
