Philippine National Soccer Team: Sydney (A.P.) After the Philippine women’s national soccer team’s final group stage game, head coach Alen Stajcic unexpectedly resigned.
The Philippine Football Federation announced Tuesday that the Australian coach will seek other options. The PFF released the
announcement after reports that he may coach Perth Glory’s men’s A-League team.
Stajcic, who led the Australian women’s squad, was fighting for her job before the 2019 Women’s World Cup in France. Stajcic was sacked by Australian authorities without explanation.
Stajcic’s impact on Philippine football was unclear. He “changed the landscape of Philippine football forever” by qualifying the country for the World Cup. This mattered.
