Northwestern Football: Welcomes Skip Holtz as Special Assistant Amidst Coaching Changes

Northwestern Football: ESPN and the Associated Press report Coach Skip Holtz will boost Northwestern University’s football program. This announcement arrives as the university prepares for 2018. He will serve as a special assistant to team manager David Braun for a few months. But this position is temporary.

Birmingham Stallions head coach Holtz. Since the Stallions had won back-to-back championships in the league’s first two seasons since its revival, his new employment with the Wildcats won’t interfere with his duties with them.

Skip Holtz can teach a lot. Coached Notre Dame, Florida State, South Carolina, South Florida, East Carolina, and Louisiana Tech. He won six straight bowl games as Louisiana Tech’s football coach. Lou Holtz, his father, is a College Football Hall of Fame coach. Lou Holtz coached Notre Dame.

Three days after Fitzgerald resigned, the university named David Braun acting head coach. Braun had been the team’s defensive coordinator since the start of the year. For four years, he worked at North Dakota State. He helped win two FCS national titles.
