Bellingrath Gardens Shines on Global Stage: Bellingrath Gardens in Theodore, Alabama, stood tall among the global elite at the recent International Garden Tourism Conference in Victoria, British Columbia. The prestigious event honored outstanding gardens from around the world.
Bellingrath Gardens earned its place on the exclusive list of the ‘Gardens of the World Worth Travelling For in 2024.’ This recognition is a testament to the exceptional experiences it offers to visitors.
Chair Ibo Gülsen of the International Garden Tourism Network proudly announced the 2023 recipients of the ‘Gardens of the World Worth Travelling For in 2024’ Awards. Alongside Bellingrath Gardens, other distinguished gardens include Adelaide Botanic Garden in Australia, Classical Gardens of Suzhou in China, and Gardens by the Bay in Singapore.
The award ceremony also featured the 2023 International Garden Tourism Awards, acknowledging excellence in various categories. The recipients included The Newt in Somerset, United Kingdom, as Garden of the Year, Sejong City in South Korea as New Garden City of the Year, and Donna Dawson from Panama as Garden Tourism Person of the Year.
These accolades celebrate the convergence of gardens and tourism, recognizing leaders in the field of garden tourism. The esteemed jury, led by Dr. Richard Benfield, a seasoned expert in garden visitor management, carefully selected the deserving winners.
